Kidnapped babies reunited with there parents in lmo

Their joy knew no bounds as the family of Mr
and Mrs Daniel Duruji as well as 24 years old
Vivien Iwuji reunited with their 2 week old babies
who were kidnapped few hours after they were
born.
While presenting the babies back to their parents
at the Imo State Police Command Headquarters
in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the state police
commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, vowed that the Imo
State Police Command would not rest until the
issue of child stealing and child trafficking were
brought to its barest minimal.
The Imo police boss said that three suspects had
been arrested in connection to the incident and
they are presently cooling their feet in the police
cell as investigations are ongoing.
While narrating the incidence, the head of the
anti-human trafficking unit of the Imo police
command, Mrs Elizabeth Okosun, said the police
were able to recover one of the babies after a tip-
off by a commercial tricycle rider who suspected
the shady behaviour of the suspects when they
were about travelling with the baby to another
state.
Vivien Iwuji , a 24 year old student, said that she
was deceived by her sister-in-law that a family
friend will take care of her baby after delivery not
knowing she had the intention of selling her baby.
The Imo Police commission appealed to religious
and community leaders to furnish the police with
adequate information if any woman or family
without a history of a recent pregnancy was seen
with a newborn baby.
Two hundred years after the abolition of the
trans-Atlantic slave trade, the trafficking of
African children continues unabated. This is one
of the most horrific violations of a child’s right.
Trafficking can be defined as “the recruitment,
transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of a
child for the purpose of exploitation”. Reasons for
trafficking children include: sexual exploitation,
forced labour and/or slavery, domestic servitude,
forced marriages, illegal adoptions, and even
forced organ removal or human sacrifice.
Nigeria acts as a source, transit and destination
country for trafficking children to Europe, the
Middle East and other countries throughout
Africa. UNICEF has estimated that over 1.2 million
children worldwide are trafficked each year. The
highest rates of child trafficking in Nigeria are
found in the Niger Delta region, according to
research by NAPTIP, the Nigerian Anti-Trafficking
Agency.

Stallion Group debuts made-in-Nigeria Hyundai cars

Barely three months after delivering the Made-in-
Nigeria Nissan range of vehicles, the Stallion
Group has delivered yet again on another promise
– the manufacture and assembly of Hyundai
range of vehicles.
The Chairman of the Stallion Group, Mr Sunil
Vaswani, who broke the news in Lagos, promised
that the new vehicles “will be affordably priced,”
in order to give Nigerians a break from the
strangle-hold of wholesale vehicle importers.
The made-in-Nigeria Hyundai vehicles are being
assembled at the Hyundai Motor plant in Lagos.
Some of the Hyundai passenger cars which are
priced between N1.5 million and N1.9 million are
i10, Grand, Accent, Elantra and iX35 while in the
truck and bus segments, the 10-ton HD160,
seven-ton HD 120, five-ton HD78 and three-ton
HD65 as well as 28+1 seater Hyundai County bus
and 30-seater Stallion County bus are now being
supplied to the market.
The West African conglomerate, the Stallion
Group-owned multivehicle assembly plant, had in
July announced the commencement of locally
produced Hyundai range of vehicles, having
inaugurated and rolled-out the first set of made-
in-Nigeria Nissan automobiles in April.
The Managing Director of Hyundai Motors Nigeria
Limited plant, Tokunbo Aromolaran, said the
vehicles were certified to the world’s highest
automotive operating standard – ISO/TS 16949.
ISO/TS 16949 is the highest automotive operating
standard in the world and its benefits include
improved quality processes at the facility along
with streaming supply chains both leading to a
better overall product,” he explained.
The plant had supported its ambitious growth
plans by prioritising the need for a faster and
more efficient environment to facilitate concurrent
product development and support a rapidly
changing requirement for a vehicle programme,
Aromolaran affirmed.
He said: “Today, we are glad to inform Nigerians
that we have delivered on our promise to make
available affordably priced vehicles – thanks to
strong-willed President Goodluck Jonathan and
the indefatigable supervisory roles of the Federal
Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment headed
by Mr. Olusegun Aganga.”
The plant director added that the first phase of
delivery, which has already begun, establishes a
system of record for the complete vehicle
programme which will gradually be expanded to
meet the ever-increasing demands for functional
vehicle in Nigeria.
“Prospective customers can now walk into any of
our dealership showrooms nationwide to buy
value-driven made-in-Nigeria Hyundai certified
vehicles.
Hyundai i10, Grand, Xcent and Elantra are
elegantly crafted functional cars with eye-popping
styling, good fuel economy, and fantastic driving
experience with modest starting price that is
affordable to every desiring buyer,” Aromolaran
assured.
The Group Managing Director, Stallion Automobile
Division, Parvir Singh, who received the Made-in-
Nigeria Hyundai vehicles on behalf of the sale and
marketing division of Hyundai Motors Nigeria
described the achievement as a milestone in the
history of Nigeria’s automotive industry.
He later announced a starting price of
N1.594million for the Hyundai i10 and
N1.990million for the Grand, urging customers to
take advantage of the price and drive a certified
made-in-Nigeria Hyundai car.
Singh oversees the sales, marketing and dealer
development arms of the Hyundai Motors Nigeria
and he is responsible for creative and imaginative
marketing strategies to develop new and existing
customer sales and brand support.
Stallion Motors dealers in Lagos, Warri, Asaba,
Anambra and Abakaliki have also commended the
initiative, saying this would expand customers’
options of below N2 million range of vehicles.

Couple falls to death while taking selfies at cliff edge in portugal

A couple visiting Portugal plunged to their death
this weekend while trying to snap a selfie with
their kids on the edge of a beachside cliff.
The Polish family was enjoying themselves
Saturday at the cliffs of Cabo da Roca on the
west coast of Portugal, a popular destination for
tourists.
According to reports from Independent UK, the
family decided to capture the cherished moment
with a selfie, but the parents somehow slipped
and plummeted off the side of the cliff.
Bad weather conditions forced rescue workers to
give up their search, but the couple’s bodies were
eventually found on Sunday, according to the
Independent.
Portuguese authorities are investigating the
incident, but believe the deaths were directly
caused by the killer selfie.
The children were being cared for by Polish
diplomats and were taken to psychologists for
treatment to deal with witnessing the deaths of
their parents
